My fitness journey

As a little girl, I loved to move.  Whether it was freestyle dance, freeze tag, or soccer I loved it.  I was okay at sitting but I’ve always liked to move and be active.

I played soccer throughout my primary and secondary years.  When I went to college I was focusing on music performance so I stopped soccer to keep my hands from getting injured and ran instead.

Marine Corps Marathon 2010

Running took me to running 5k’s, then a few half marathons, and in 2010, a marathon in conjunction with a fundraising effort for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society.

My first son was born in 2012, and I went back to running and resistance training at 8 weeks postpartum.

I stayed active and walked more during my second pregnancy in 2014.  I used the T25 program to lose the weight afterwards and was really successful.

11 months post-partum 2015

Now, it’s three additional years later and I’m trying to use the BBG program to lose the last ten pounds from my third pregnancy.   I’m not just doing it to fit into my pants again (although that’s a main concern!).  I’m also concerned about soon reaching 40 and wanting to be at a healthy weight, knowing the statistics that abound regarding weight-related preventable chronic diseases (particularly for women).  Chronic diseases, in my opinion, are at a national high, brought on by convenience, lifestyle, and trends….but I think it is something that is reversible with shared knowledge and resources.  In my own little way, I would like to live as cleanly as I can so I can be around for as much of my children’s’ lives as I can (and then model the lifestyle for them).  I hope I can be of some inspiration, for even one person that might need it (and be accountable to my goals!)
